Terms and conditions
The following Terms & Conditions apply when customers (hereinafter referred to as “The Customer”) book tours with Gandri Ventures ehf. (hereinafter referred to as “Gandri Ventures”) and/or tours sold by Gandri Ventures that are serviced by a 3rd party.
Note that for certain tours, additional tour-specific Terms & Conditions may apply. Some tours/services may require The Customer to sign service-specific waivers on date of departure that contain articles not included herein. The forementioned can also apply for tours sold by Gandri Ventures but serviced by a 3rd party. The Customer is urged to contact Gandri Ventures to enquire if this applies to a tour that The Customer has booked or intends to book. Please e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org with such queries.
Entirety of Agreement
The Terms & Conditions set forth herein and, where applicable, in our tour-specific Terms & Conditions, constitute the entire agreement between Gandri Ventures and The Customer and supersede any communications or previous agreements with respect to the subject matter of this Agreement. There are no written or oral understandings directly or indirectly related to this Agreement that are not set forth herein. No change can be made to this Agreement other than confirmed in writing by both parties.
General Conditions and Liability
Gandri Ventures disclaims responsibility for any loss, damage, accidents, illness or changes in schedules caused by weather, strikes or any other irregularity outside Gandri Ventures’s control. Gandri Ventures reserves the right to alter routes or departure times, without prior notice, should the necessity arise. We advise all customers to have insurance, as customers are on their own responsibility on optional tours and some activities may fall outside of the terms of regular travel- and/or accident insurance.
No responsibility is taken for losses or expenses due to delay or changes of flights, injury, damaged, negligence, weather, war or other unforeseeable causes. The estimated duration of tours as indicated on our website are standard times and can vary according to road or weather conditions. Gandri Ventures cannot be made responsible for losses that a customer may face due to delay, regardless whether the loss is direct or indirect.
In cases where Gandri Ventures needs to contact The Customer regarding changes or cancellation of tours, an e-mail is sent to the e-mail address provided by The Customer during the booking process. The Customer is urged to monitor e-mails before scheduled departures. If the Customer is unable to access e-mails and needs other means of communications, The Customer is responsible for providing Gandri Ventures with alternative means of communication.
Cancellation and Refund Policy
All cancellations by The Customer must be made in writing to email@example.com.
Cancellation/refund terms if cancelled by The Customer:
- A cancellation fee of 100% is charged if cancelled 1 day or less before the tour.
- If the Customer fails to show up at pickup: No refund.
Cancellation/refund terms if cancelled by Gandri Ventures:
- If a tour is cancelled, for any reason at any time, The Customer is eligible for a 100% refund of the ISK amount originally paid.
- This does not include tours that are free re-runs (such as after non-sightings Northern Lights tours).
- Under no circumstances is The Customer eligible for a refund in part or full for a tour that was performed.
- Gandri Ventures conducts business in the Icelandic Krona (ISK). When purchasing a tour online, Customer is, in effect, entering into an agreement with the bank, that issued Customers credit card, to purchase Icelandic Krona which Customer, in turn, uses to pay for Gandri Ventures’s services. Gandri Ventures refunds the exact same ISK amount that was paid when the tour was booked and is not liable for any losses incurred by the Customer in the event that the currency exchange rate of Customers currency has changed between the time of purchase and time of refund.
If Gandri Ventures cancels a tour for any reason, re-scheduling and/or alternatives may be offered/suggested to ensure customer satisfaction. The Customer is free to either accept or decline such offers.
If the Customer declines re-scheduling or alternative offers, The Customer receives a 100% refund. Should the Customer accept an offer for an alternative service or re-schedule, the booking has become binding in much the same way as the original booking from the time The Customer accepts such an offer. Thus, in case of cancellation by The Customer, the Cancellation/refund terms as stated in these Terms & Conditions do apply.

Cancellation by Gandri Ventures:
Gandri Ventures reserves the right to delay, alter or cancel any tour due to weather or any other unsafe conditions for the safety of our clients. We make our Go/NoGo decision at 18:30 based on the last weather forecast for the evening. If it is a NoGo due to weather, we send you an e-mail. In the event of sudden late weather changes/warnings we may need to cancel last minute, in which case we will send an e-mail. If we cancel your tour because of weather, we can rebook you on our next available tour. Please request a rebooking via e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org. If we do not manage to take you out at all during your stay you receive a 100% refund.
Note that pickup time is anywhere from 0 to 30 minutes till the stated beginning of the tour. If a customer is not present at provided pickup location when our driver-guide arrives, the driver-guide is obliged to continue pickup of other customers and start the tour without the missing customer. This is to avoid delay for other customers. In such case, this is considered a NO SHOW and no refund will be issued.
Non-sightings on tour:
The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon and displays, or their magnitude can never be guaranteed. We base our Go/No Go decision on cloud cover and geomagnetic forecasts and only go out when forecasts indicate a high chance of visible Northern Lights. Low-level lights count as sightings. If we do not see Northern Lights on your tour, you are eligible for a free re-run any time for a period of two years from the date of the non-sightings tour. The number of free re-runs is limited to one re-run. You may be required to present your original ticket/voucher via e-mail upon requesting your free re-run. Free re-run right is non-transferable to a third party. A free re-run tour is subject to availability. I.e. there must be available seats when you notify us via e-mail that you would like to book a re-run and there must be a tour scheduled. In this case, you must notify us by e-mail: email@example.com. Re-booking is on a first-come, first-served basis. Under no circumstances will there be a refund, in full or partial, for a Non-sightings tour.
